Adesta was one of the first systems integration companies to receive Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act Certification and Designation from the Department of Homeland Security. The receipt of this certification and designation covers our design, engineering, construction, integration, maintenance and training services. The purpose of the SAFETY Act of 2002 is to encourage the development and deployment of anti-terrorism technologies that will substantially enhance the protection of the nation.
The SAFETY Act was created in response to the potentially crushing liability suits that were filed after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Congress understood that the existence of such lawsuits could keep important anti-terror services and technologies out of the hands of the Federal government, port authorities, commercial customers and others. Therefore they created the system of liability protections offered by the SAFETY Act as an incentive for companies to buy and sell effective anti-terror goods and services.
As a result of the award, Adesta is entitled to a presumption of dismissal for claims arising out of a terrorist event related to its covered services. More importantly, our clients can be dismissed from claims arising out of an act of terrorism that involve the use of Adesta’s services.
More information regarding the SAFETY Act can be obtained by visiting www.safetyact.gov.
